Training & Education
Lions Home believes in providing quality holistic care to our residents. To achieve this requires growing the number of competent and knowledgeable nurses and care assistants in the Home. We therefore place a great emphasis on continuing education, on-the-job training, and clinical based research.
To provide holistic care requires a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach, integrating inputs from programmes to management to staff activities. Hence Lions Home provides in-service training in multiple disciplines, and also constantly reviews corporate-wide processes including management structures, staff activities and resident outcomes to ensure high quality and standard of care and services.
All of these efforts are aligned with our efforts to improve our knowledge-based and evidence-based practices in long-term care.
Resource center for aging and aged care…
Our experience and expertise in the field of Ageing and Aged Care allows us to contribute back to our community by being a resource centre for information and research.
We are privileged to be partnering with the National University of Singapore Social Science Department and geriatricians from Changi General Hospital. Our collaboration is to compile data and statistics in behavioural science and health care practices. We believe that our work together will significantly influence the healthcare system and provide a better care for our elderly in later life.
Leading Edge... Best Practice
In addition, Lions Home is also collaborating with Nanyang Polytechnic on other research projects. Such research keeps us at the leading edge of our industry.
But to keep at the leading edge of providing service to the aged, we also recognize that our research must be refined into best practices that can be consistently applied by every staff member. To this end, we have implemented the following initiatives developed to give staff a platform to share knowledge and, together, further develop best practices:
- “A think and analyze critically” program was introduced into the work culture at every level of the organization
- Guiding principles for Lions Home were implemented, such as:
- Dementia Care Mapping
- Journal Club,
- Fire Plan,
- Information Systems and;
- Quality Assurance Management
- A Comprehensive Quality Assurance program provides data and information for continuous improvement in work culture and service
